Mr. Shi Shaohua is an outstanding elder-generation photographer, and a dedicated practitioner of photographic art in the People’s Republic of China. He was also one of the photography pioneers in the CPC base areas during the War of Resistance Against Japan. He witnessed and recorded Tunnel Warfare and Landmine Warfare among other actions against the Japanese aggression in North China. His pleasing and vivid black-and-white images capture important historical moments in the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Admiring his photographic works compares to enjoying a visual epic; the precious and familiar pictures make the name of the photographer together with his works deeply engraved in the history of Chinese photography.
